Summer Update
After a brief stay in San Diego turned into an almost 3 week long mini-summer, I'm back in Mammoth for the final stretch. The spring park is fun considering that it's the end of JUNE and we're still shredding. There's a pipe, a small jump that I don't have pictures of, and a jib line consisting of a flat box, the sharkfin, and a double-barrel flatbar. There are also some things to jump over and slash.
I love shredding, don't get me wrong, but coming back to Mammoth after being in beautiful San Diego for the beginning of summer was tough. I really miss surfing so I tried to keep the feeling alive and all the girls in SD, but I don't miss sketchy trips to Tijuana with Travis.
I saw the teaser for the new Absinthe movie and it said something about some rocket-jetpack camera or something. I don't know what that means but I do know that some of the aerial followcam shots are trippy. I think Absinthe makes some of the best movies so you should definitely check out More this fall.
One Gabe Taylor was sighted at Sierra Star golf course getting his off-season on.
Mammoth ripper, Monument Snowboards teamrider, jump destroyer, and all around good guy Doug Mercer is heading to SnowParkNZ again this season. Wish I were too...
I checked-in with K5 teamrider Greg Hahn to see how his summer was going, to which he replied "it's hot and I'm working 70 hours a week. But I'll have my sled payed off and be set for next season." Ok.
Congrats to Mike Ramirez and his lovely girlfriend Shanna who just bought a brand new Tacoma, a house, and got engaged all in the same week. Here's to Mr. and Mrs. Ramrod.
Rumor has it that a couple past guests on this very webpage will be added to the K5 roster to make up a Mammoth super-team for the 06/07. Team plans include lots of riding, traveling, competing, and hopefully a team trip to a snowcat operation (are you reading this Jurgen?). I'll be helping out with some of the managerial duties of keeping this elite force ripping to their fullest.
In other rumored snowboard power moves, our sport's biggest and most influential company (??) sought to acquire both Channel Islands Surfboards and yours truly after seeing this here Journal. Let's just say only one attempt was successful as Kelly Slater will be surfing for this mystery company while I will keep riding for RomeSDS. What I really want to know is if Jeremy Jones gets free surfboards now too?

We set up a double barrel-jib line on a snowpatch up on the ridge which was tons of fun. There was one to jump over and one to stall on. Doug and Farnes were killin' it.
I'm taking the new whip to Mt. Hood after Mammoth closes. Look for a whole new installment of gossip comin' atcha from the Nor'west.

My name is JAVIER SILVA. When I'm not snowboarding I like to PAINT, TAKE PICTURES, and HUNT. My favorite trick in snowboarding is B/S 180 & S/B 5s, the funnest person in Mammoth to ride with is ME!!!!, and the hottest girl in the world is MICHELLE PARKER or LINDSAY LOHAN. My favorite jumper is I DONT KNOW, my favorite rail rider is I DONT KNOW, and my favorite no-name, broke, up-and-comer is I DONT KNOW. The last thing I listened to on my iPod was FANNY PACK (CAMEL TOE) but I also really like to listen to PEACHES,THE YEAH YEAH YEAHS, METRIC, TEGAN & SARA THE SPOOKS, THE SOUNDS, ZOE, LADYTRON, INTERPOL. I think the dumbest trick in snowboarding, besides backflips, is IF BY DUMBEST YOU MEAN COOLEST THEN NOTHING COMPARES and the most important thing about snowboarding is WINNING MONEY & HAVING FUN BUT MOSTLY WINNING MONEY HAHA. I LOVE LOVE LOVE snowboarding, but sometimes I SKI & NOTHING bums me out on shredding. I ride for VON ZIPPER, K5, and to represent them (FANTASTICLY) my plans for next season are TO TRAVEL, FILM AND TAKE OVER THE WORLD. I'm really HAPPY to be riding for K5 and the last thing I want you to know is ONLY YOU CAN PREVENT FOREST FIRES.
